Before July 2024, all spaza shops in the townships of Ugie in the Eastern Cape there was no black participation in the spaza shop economies. The discovery of interested traders sparked the transformation of the community of Ugie.  

Todate, the movement has resulted to more than 10 active spazas operated by local traders. Theier testimonies tell of the journey of sacrifice, learning, perseverance and success having received non-financial and financial support.
